Chrissy Teigen may keep us laughing, but there is nothing laughable about her elevated yet relatable street style.
Despite the other couple of street style stars I've featured on the Fashion Press, Chrissy Teigen is probably my favourite one yet.
If you don't already know who Chrissy Teigen is, she is a fashion model and also the wife of musician John Legend. Chrissy is not only an accomplished model but also a talented cook which has lead her to release her own cookbook entitled "Cravings". All that, and she's hilarious too (reference her twitter account to see more of her humour: @chrissyteigen)! To top all of these qualities and talents off, she's seriously got a killer sense of style.
Chrissy's style is not over the top and extravagant, it's actually the opposite. While her style leans towards the understated side, her outfits are never boring. She manages to have simple yet stylish outfits without them being boring and basic.
The reason I love Chrissy Teigen specifically when it comes to her style (because let's face it, I love her period) is because her outfits are very easy to create because they all have simple bases that incorporate pieces that are accessible and affordable. While Chrissy may have the more expensive versions of these items, there are more affordable alternatives.
Chrissy's main portions of her outfits are always very simple: she usually opts for pants (whether material or denim) or shorts. With her bottoms she typically wears tank tops and t-shirts sometimes cropped, other times not. These usually remain in a muted, neutral palette. Where her outfit gets interesting and saves them from being boring are her accessories. She keeps it pretty tame with her shoes, which are heels and/or heeled booties for the most part, and bag. Where she really gets creative is with her jackets and hats. Chrissy loves her hats and lightweight duster coats! That's what really gives her that edge and gets her outfits attention. Her hat and coat add a really chic element to her overall look that says "I'm put together but I didn't try hard at all".
Chrissy knows how to look good without going overboard. She always looks great and flawless without overdoing it. Her style is appropriate and convenient considering that she is a new mom! She and John welcomed their little girl Luna recently, which has probably affected Chrissy's style considering she has a child to care for. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her future outfits!
