Street Style Spotlight: Sofia Richie

Nicole, you may have had your moment to show us the Good Life, but Sofia is here to show us good style.

Though she is mostly recognized for being the daughter of famed musician Lionel Richie and little sister to Nicole Richie, Sofia Richie should be garnering attention for her incredible sense of style because she is making a serious name for herself in the fashion world.

She has walked the runway for the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection at New York Fashion Week in February 2016 and the Jeremy Scott show in September of 2017 as well as sitting front row to shows of many prestigious designers like Dolce&Gabbana, Balmain, Moschino, and Alexander Wang.

But where she really dominates is the streets, a place where her off-duty style shines.

The first thing I noticed about Sofia's style is that it is well-balanced. She doesn't wear colour all the time, but when she does she has a good mix of neutrals and colour. And the odd occasion where her outfit is all colour, she tones it down with neutral accessories. She knows where the line between too much and just enough is, and does not cross it.

Another key element to her style is denim. Just like any other teen or young adult (or human being for that matter) denim appears to be a staple in her wardrobe. She wears denim in all forms, and dresses them up or down, depending on the look she's going for, really demonstrating the versatility of jeans. She even has a couple of double denim looks floating around on the internet.

Another thing I noticed about Sofia's style is that she is a big fan of joggers and sweatshirts. Tracksuits and athleisure have been a big trend for the past couple of years, and she seems to have caught on to that early. Sofia has been photographed many times in either matching tracksuits or joggers and sweatshirts, dressing them down with a pair of sneakers or going for a put together look with heeled boots and a chic structured bag. She's a perfect example that you never have to sacrifice comfort for style: you can always have both.

Last but not least, Sofia is no stranger to an all black outfit. Not even celebrities can escape the temptation of an all black outfit. They're easy, require no effort, and are guaranteed to look stylish. The key to mastering an all black look, and avoiding looking two dimensional, is to bring texture and different textile to add depth. You can do this by adding on pieces like leather pants, a black leather jacket, or any other tonal piece that breaks up a constant texture.
