Fashion Faces: Let Me Show You CHic

Thanks to Angela Price and Julie Petry, the gap between fashion and sports has now been bridged with their limited edition line CHic, designed for women who love both fashion and sports.

Angela Price and Julie Petry, wives of Montreal Canadiens Carey Price and Jeff Petry, teamed up with the team's store Tricolore Sport to design a four item collection of fashion forward pieces for female Habs fans who love both fashion and sports.

"It was really important for us to bring some fashion to Habs apparel," Angela says. " We love supporting our Habs, but due to the lack of attractive women's clothing, we were not doing nearly as much as we wanted" she explains in regards to the importance of this line.

Angela, who asked Julie to co-design the line with her, decided this would not be a solo project. They chose to involve their friends from the hockey wives community in the project, which made the experience "so much fun!"

They recruited Bailey Weber, wife of Canadiens defenceman Shea Weber, to model with them in promotional pictures and Julie Hemsky, wife of newly acquired Ales Hemsky, styled jewelry for the shoot with pieces from her company Jugar N Spice. Tiffany Parros, wife of ex-Hab George Parros, was also brought on for her experience from operating her own clothing company Plain Threads and as well as Violent Gentleman.

Along with it being an enjoyable experience with her friends, the incorporation and inclusion of other members of the wives community was an integral part of the project for Angela.

"Julie and I have a very similar style, so it was the perfect fit to design a line together," explaining how it was an obvious choice to choose Julie as her co-designer. "Julie Hemsky has amazing jewelry, so it was fun to have some of her pieces to really pull together the look and then to help support a fellow hockey wife. Same goes for Tiffany, I have been a fan of her and Violent Gentlemen stuff for years so reaching out to them to help with the project was a no-brainer."

Angela is no stranger to the world of design, having previously designed a pair of baby socks and bib for the Montreal Canadiens infants Fan Club in 2016, with this being her second collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens organization.

"I cannot say say enough good things about this organization. Especially everyone in marketing and Tricolour Sport, they have been so great during this entire process and really let us take full control which is amazing," she says, speaking about her experience of developing and creating CHic.

With the creation of this line, it seems that Angela is establishing a place for the wives of hockey players in a world that otherwise revolves around their husbands, which may be a challenge to do in an ever-changing league.

"I know it is hard for [the organization] to involve the wives because so many of us come and go each season. So it is nice for me, personally. Our home has revolved around the Habs for nearly ten years, and will be for another eight years, so it is nice to be able to put my stamp on something for the organization,"says Angela, who explains that she and her family will be sticking around in Montreal for many more years to come, now that her husband has signed an eight-year deal with the team.

Hopefully in those next eight years, Angela and Julie will be able to extend their line, something Angela tells the readers of her blog, ByAngelaPrice, they wish to do.

Last but not least, not only are the pieces fashionable, but they're charitable: 10% of all sales of the pieces will go to the Canadiens Children's foundation. "That was really important to us. [The line] means a little more to have a part of it go to charity" Price tells NHL.com.

I had the privilege of being able to see the whole collection the night it debuted at the Tricolore Sport flagship store at the Bell Center in Montreal. The garments are of the utmost quality and if you're anything like me and love both hockey and fashion, so much so I can't decide which I love more, you'll want to buy the whole collection. Personally, I have the baseball hat and it is perfect for games as well as throwing on when you're on the go, but still want to support your Habs!

If you wish to shop the line, do so by calling Tricolore Sport flagship store or going in person to place an order. Get them while supplies last.
