Fashion Faces: Melissa Soldera: The Making of A Modern Businesswoman




The ultimate style story of the girl who cannot be stopped.

If you live in Montreal, and are the slightest bit interested in fashion and the Montreal fashion market, you probably know of Melissa Soldera. If not, it's quite difficult to find a place to start.

Along with a successful Youtube channel that currently has over 60, 000 subscribers and similar figures on Instagram, Melissa is a very established business owner and entrepreneur among being the coolest mother and just a #GirlBoss in general.

Along with Instagram-based luxury consignment store Shop Cocktails and Luxury, Melissa also owns Style Society, where they provide marketing takeovers: "We work together with brands to realign their strategy and help them implement their long term goals and vision."

And while some individuals have no clear idea as to their path for the future, Melissa always knew that she would some day own a business. Despite not being academically-oriented, which she also touched on in a video on her YouTube channel, she says that her parents were always supportive of her, and never forced her to pursue anything she wasn't passionate about: "... my parents always pushed me towards doing my own thing!"

Despite the fact that she is a woman of many talents and skills, she has always considered herself an entrepreneur "through and through!"

However, Melissa did not reach her current level of success immediately. After investing her own funds into the starts of her company, when Style Society opened its doors in 2009, Melissa recounts that it was "a huge leap of faith with a huge investment attached but it was so worth it," and that " it took a while for it to take off [and] properly find a place for what we were doing. Once Style Society found its stride, though, it was awesome!"

If you're wondering what factor differentiates and sets Melissa's company apart from others like it, it's two main qualities: their flexibility and cooperation. "We are incredibly easy to work with and we really work around the company [or] brand we’re working with. We’ve been told that we’re missed once we finish our contract!"

Along with this, Melissa has fully harnessed the power of social media in conjunction with running a business. Along with the fact that it's "so much more fun and fast paced," she ultimately knows that "it's the future of marketing."

From what you know about Melissa, you may be wondering what goals she could possibly set for herself for the future, seeing as she has seemingly achieved so much already. However, Melissa does indeed have goals for the future and fully intends to maintain the vibe she has established as a Montreal-based PME, along with continuing to grow Style Society slowly. But with Melissa's rate of success, I'm not sure how slow that growth will be.
